Trivia
- The title of the book came from the chapter "Trainspotting at Leith Central Station". Although the film used the same title, that scene which involves the train spotting habit, is absent in the film.
- Although the story is set in Edinburgh, most of the shooting of the film is done in Glasgow.
- The characters in the film all speak with a Scottish accent. Jonny Lee Miller, who plays Sickboy, is however an English actor.
